Guarujá, Brasil

Accoya was chosen for Jungle House

In the Jungle House project located on Guarujá Beach in Brazil, Accoya wood was used in many different areas to give this impressive structure a natural and aesthetic appearance.

Accoya was preferred for the exterior cladding and high-quality terrace flooring of the project, and the wall panels, room furniture and special Muxarabi joinery in the interior were also designed with Accoya. Muxarabi is a special joinery technique that filters light and creates different shadow plays throughout the day and is used to increase the aesthetic value of the architectural design. The architect preferred to naturally gray the Accoya wood over time without applying any color, ensuring that the structure gained an appearance in harmony with its surroundings.

Accoya was also the prominent material in the project thanks to its superior resistance to Brazil's intense heat and humidity conditions.

Greece

Perfect Choice by the Pool

Accoya deck panels supplied by Atlas Wood were chosen for a swimming pool terrace in a private residence in Greece. The client chose Accoya for its superior stability, first-class durability and environmentally friendly structure. In applications where there is constant exposure to water and ground contact, it is essential to use a wood that is resistant to rot and insects.

Accoya perfectly met these requirements with its long-lasting and maintenance-free structure, and the client was very pleased with the result.

Håhammaren, Norway

Norway's Nature-Compatible Hiking Path

This 850-metre long walking track, known as the Stavanger Boardwalk, is a route that attracts great interest from both locals and visitors. Offering an ideal area for runners, cyclists and nature walkers, the project connects the coastal villages in the Håhammaren region overlooking the Hafrsfjord, one of Norway’s famous fjords. Two bridges and walking paths were built within the scope of the project, one of which is 45 metres long and the other 30 metres long. This project was launched by the Stavanger regional authorities in 2011.

The aim was to create a structure that would be both innovative and leave a lasting impression, while preserving the natural environment and the terrain as much as possible. In this context, the foundations of the bridge are fixed directly to the seabed, and the 45-metre long section is finished with Accoya timber cladding with geometric patterns. In order to provide additional slip resistance, cross grooves were added to the surface for cold periods when the risk of ice formation is high. Inside the bridge, there is also an integrated Accoya wooden bench where visitors can sit, relax and enjoy the unique view of Hafrsfjord. Long-lasting, durable and environmentally friendly, Accoya wood provided an aesthetic, safe and environmentally friendly solution for this project.
